July is here, and with it the best stretch of the year on the Cascais coast. The water is warm enough to swim without a second thought, the mornings are long and still, and the afternoons hold that deep Atlantic blue you only get in high summer. If there is one month to be on a boat out of Cascais, this is it.
So — welcome to July. Here is how we would spend it.
Why July is peak season in Cascais
The sea does its best work now. Through the height of summer the coast settles into a rhythm: glassy water first thing, a gentle sea breeze that fills in by early afternoon, and evenings that stay bright and warm long past dinner. The coves west toward Guincho and the anchorages below the Sintra hills are at their clearest, and the swimming is as good as it gets anywhere in Portugal.
It is also the busiest month ashore. A private boat trip from Marina de Cascais is the easiest way to step out of the crowds — no beach to fight for, no towel-to-towel sand, just your own group, your own bay, and the whole coastline opening up in front of you.
Shape the day around the light
The beauty of a private charter is that you pick the hours. In July, three shapes tend to win.
- A morning on the coast. Cast off early while the water is still like glass, anchor for a swim before the breeze, and be back for lunch in town. Our coastal cruise out of Cascais runs in two, three or four-hour shapes — the easy, unhurried version of a summer day at sea.
- A full day west and beyond. For the long, cinematic version, Cascais to Lisbon takes you past the cliffs of Sintra and into the Tagus — Belém, the bridge, the Christ statue — with lunch onboard or in town on the way back.
- An evening for the sunset. July sunsets over the Atlantic are the reason people move here. Time a coastal charter for the golden hour — head out along the cliffs, cut the engine as the light drops, and watch the coast turn copper with a drink in hand.
Room for the whole group
July is also the month of celebrations — birthdays, reunions, the friends who finally all made it to Portugal at the same time. For a bigger group, our Catamaran gives everyone space to spread out, swim and lounge on a boat built to sit flat and steady all day. And if your day does not fit any of the standard shapes, a tailor-made experience is exactly that — you tell us the occasion, and we build the day around it.
Whichever you choose, it is always private. One group, one day, up to six guests on the motor boat, captain and fuel included.
Book your July day
The best summer dates go early, and July fills faster than any other month. If you have a day in mind — a morning swim, a full coastal run, a sunset with someone you love — the fastest way to start is to tell us your dates. You will hear back from Miguel directly, usually within a few hours, with availability and a plan shaped around your day.
The water is warm and the coast is waiting. See you out there.
