Every month on this coast has its own character, but July is the one that shows off. Warm water, glassy mornings, sunsets that stretch past ten — and a marina full of people ready to make something of them. Now that the month has closed, we want to do two things: say thank you, and show you what a month of private boat trips out of Cascais actually looks like.

The month the sea turned up.
July opened with a heatwave — 30°C and up, day after day — and the water was the only sensible place to be. By the middle of the month the Atlantic had reached its high-summer rhythm: still mornings, a gentle afternoon breeze, and the warmest, clearest water of the year in the coves toward Guincho.
That rhythm carried every trip we ran. Here are the ones we will remember.
A morning distilled to the essentials.
One July morning, our guests had exactly two hours and one wish: warm water, wine and sun. So we did the opposite of a sightseeing dash — one perfect anchorage, towels on the sunpads, wine cold, swim ladder down. Two hours later they stepped ashore having done everything they came for and none of the things they didn't.
Short trips are underrated. On this coast, two hours is enough to change the shape of a whole day.
The sunsets — and the dolphins.
The golden hour did its best work this month. There was the magical evening when a sunset ride home turned into something none of us could have planned — a huge pod of dolphins surfacing around the boat with the light almost gone, everyone on their feet, phones forgotten.
Two days later, a lovely family of seven spent two hours along the coast from Guia to the Costa do Estoril, wine and a cheese board on the table, and left us a review we will keep for a long time. Different evenings, same recipe: calm sea, gold light, and someone else at the helm.

Our biggest adventure of the month went the furthest: two days from Cascais up the Tejo to Valada, past Lisbon and into countryside so quiet it is hard to believe the city is an hour behind you. River swims off the back of the boat, dinner ashore, a night among the fields — and wild horses crossing the sandbanks in front of us.
And a dinner date to end the month.
July closed the way it deserved to: with a sushi dinner on a private boat for two. Champagne on arrival, a slow cruise into the sunset, dinner served at anchor under warm lights, blankets out as dusk turned into night. A restaurant cannot do that. This coast can.
August is next — and it books fast.
Here is the honest advice from the people who live on this water: August in Cascais is every bit as good as July. The sea holds its summer warmth, the evenings stay long, and the coast keeps its high-season calm. It is also the busiest month of the year — the best dates and the calm sunset slots are always the first to go.
