It is the question we are asked more than any other: what exactly is a tailor-made experience? People see the phrase on charter websites everywhere, often used loosely. So here is what it actually means at Nautivent — and why, for most of our guests, it ends up being the only way they want to spend a day on the water.
A tailor-made experience, simply put
A tailor-made experience is a private boat charter designed around you rather than a fixed schedule. There is no set departure time you have to make, no shared deck of strangers, no looping route that ends when the clock says so. Instead, you tell us what you are hoping for — the occasion, the pace, the people aboard — and we build the day from there.
Every Nautivent charter is private: one boat, one group of up to six guests, a single charter a day. That is what makes "tailor-made" possible in the first place. We are not trying to fit three groups into one afternoon, so the day is genuinely yours to shape.
How we create your personalized experience
It starts with a conversation, not a booking form. When you tell us what you have in mind, you do not get an automated quote — you hear back from Miguel directly, usually within a few hours.
Miguel grew up sailing this coast; Cascais is home. He knows which bay stays calm when the wind turns, where the light is best in the late afternoon, and which restaurant will actually have a table ready when you step ashore. He loves this part — sitting with your ideas and turning them into a real plan. A few of the things he will work through with you:
- The occasion. A birthday, an anniversary, a proposal, a family reunion, or simply a quiet day away from the crowds — each calls for a slightly different day.
- The route and the pace. A gentle coastal cruise out of Cascais, the full passage from Cascais to Lisbon by sea, a longer run south to Tróia past the Arrábida cliffs, or an overnight on the Tejo. Each is a starting point, not a rule.
- Food and drink. Welcome drinks are always included. From there, Miguel can arrange catering aboard, or call ahead and book a table at a restaurant ashore so the timing lines up without you thinking about it.
- The little things. Swimming and snorkel stops, paddle gear, your own playlist over the speakers, the right moment to anchor and do nothing at all.
By the time you step onto the boat, the planning has disappeared. That is the point. All the arranging that would otherwise eat a week of your time has already been handled, so the day can simply happen.
Curated down to the last detail
What sets a tailor-made experience apart is not only having the deck to yourselves — it is having someone who genuinely cares that every detail matches what you wanted. Miguel treats each charter as if it were his own day out with friends. If your plan changes halfway through — a later lunch, a longer swim, an earlier turn for home — that is not a problem on a private charter. The day reorganizes itself around you, in the moment, out loud.
This is the difference guests feel but find hard to describe afterward. It is not the cheapest possible hour on the water; it is the right day, built to fit you precisely.
Plan your own tailor-made experience
If a day shaped entirely around you sounds right, we would love to put one together. Start from one of our experiences or describe something completely your own — either way, tell us what you have in mind and Miguel will personally plan it with you, detail by detail.
Prefer to give the day rather than describe it? Our gift cards can be redeemed for any tailor-made experience. One boat, one charter a day, curated around you.
